Holgate Windmill Open Days - Summer 2009

We will be opening our doors on May 16th & 17th May for National Mills Weekend and then on the first weekend of every month during summer 2009 to allow people to see our progress on the restoration of the mill. There has been a great deal going on over the winter months, so there's alot to see.

A knowledgeable committee member will be present on each floor to give further information and answer any questions you may have. There will be displays and storyboards depicting the life story of the mill, and HWPS merchandise will be available to buy.

Opening Times:
11am to 4pm on the following dates:

May: Sat 9th & Sun 10th
June: Sat 6th & Sun 7th
July: Sat 4th & Sun 5th
August: Sat 1st & Sun 2nd
September: Sat 5th & Sun 6th
October: Sat 3rd & Sun 4th

The number of people allowed inside the mill at any one time will be limited, so please be prepared to wait a short while. Hard hats must be worn on the upper floors and will be provided.

HWPS members will be allowed free entry. There will be a charge of £3 for non members, or alternatively you can join the society on the day for £5 for a years indivdual membership or £8 for a years household membership.

Unfortunately there is no disabled access to the windmill.

Please note that the nearest toilet facilities are in West Bank Park.

How to find us

Holgate Windmill is situated on Windmill Rise in Holgate, York (Postcode YO26 4TU).

We would be grateful if you could assist us by not parking your car on Windmill Rise. There is ample space on Acomb Road and the windmill can be easily accessed via the snicket indicated on the map and which will be signposted.
