How to find us

Holgate Windmill is approximately one and a half miles west of York city centre in the Holgate district. There is ample parking at the kerbside in Acomb Road or in the car park of the Carlton Tavern pub approx 5 minutes walk from the mill. The pub is just past Grantham Drive towards Acomb and serves good food and drink if you are in need of refreshment before or after your visit.

Please do not park in Windmill Rise as it is a narrow residential street and could easily become congested.

Number 1 buses go from the city centre (opposite the railway station or outside the Theatre Royal) and stop near to the mill in Acomb Road.
