| After
a few nervous weeks, praying for good weather and calm winds, we
have finally achieved our greatest challenge... ...getting the sails
back on the mill. Our millwrights worked through pouring rain on
Monday and cold conditions on Tuesday to get all five sails back
in place. It was precision work, needing careful co-ordination between
the crane operator and our millwrights. They managed the whole job
in just two days and all in time for Christmas. What a great present
for the society.
Thank
you to everyone involved, especially our millwrights who must be
justifiably proud of their work. I'm sure you'll all agree that
the mill looks fabulous. The media certainly agreed and we appeared
on BBC Look North on Tuesday night and in several local newspapers.
The next
job is to fit all 200 shutters into the frames and we will be looking
to do this sometime in the new year, before the onset of spring
and our 2012 open season. Don't forget to come and have a look next
time you are passing.
