If you would like to explore this fascinating piece of our nation’s heritage then visit the mill on one of our open days. On various weekends throughout the year, the mill is open for visitors. See the event calendar for the list of open days.
You’ll find knowledgeable volunteers in the mill who can give you lots of information and answer any questions you may have about Holgate mill or milling in general. There are displays on each floor depicting the life of the mill, and HWPS stone-ground flour and merchandise is available to buy. If possible, wind permitting, the sails may be turning.
Entry to the mill is £3 for adults, £1 for Children (aged 5-18). Entry is free to members of the Holgate Windmill Preservation Society. Please see our Membership page for details of how to join. All profits go towards the upkeep of the mill.
There is no need to book in advance for open days – just turn up during the opening hours – 11am to 4pm.
There is a WC and shop inside the mill. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, there is no disabled access to the windmill.
Group and school visits
Holgate windmill welcomes visits from societies, groups and schools. We can provide private, guided tours around the mill outside normal opening times. If you would like to organise a visit, please ring Jen Hay on 01904 792 638 to arrange a time, or send us a message using the form below.
