Our Strong Wholemeal flour makes fantastic bread. Some people mix it with strong white flour in 50/50 or 60/40 ratio. It also makes a sourdough stater which can then be used to make pizzas or other breads. It is also good for Chapatis. See our recipes on the website all tried and tested by our volunteers!
Course Flour is ideal for Crumbles and Biscuits. It can also be added to our Wholemeal flour to make excellent Holgate Digestive Biscuits or Date Crumble Slices.
Spelt is an alternative to wheat however it is a gentle grain for the digestive tract and can strengthen the immune system as well as having many other health benefits. It can be used in the same way as wheat so can replace wheat flour in a recipe or it can be mixed with wheat flour to give a different taste and texture.
When are we open during Covid-19 lockdown?
The mill shop is open every Saturday morning between 10 and 12 (or until we sell out of flour). Because of unprecedented demand at the present time we are limiting each customer to a 1.5Kg bag (1Kg spelt) and would ask that you pay contactless.
We are also taking a limited number of orders each week for 5kg bags of flour (wheat £7.50 and spelt £11.00) to meet high customer demand. If you are interested please send your request through the general contact form on the website with your name, contact number, order details and preferred Saturday date for collection. Orders should be sent by Thursday evening each week to be ready for collection on Saturday morning 10am-12pm from our mill shop
