Education at Holgate Windmill
Holgate Windmill is a validated learning destination of the Children’s University and we would normally welcome children and their parents for a fun day out to learn all about windmills and milling. You will get a fascinating insight into our cultural heritage, find out about the mill’s history and the processes involved in making flour in the original, and in our opinion, the best way.
We have helpful volunteers on hand to help explain the complex bits, story boards and, ‘hands-on’ exhibits and of course the working mill which is inspirational in itself. We will show you how grain is ground into flour ready for baking into bread and cakes. At the end of your visit you will receive a Culture Sticker for your Children’s University Passport (visit the Childrens University website for more details).
